RHYMESAYERS ENTERTAINMENT!!

 Artists
Rhymesayers Entertainment is an independent hip hop record label based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded in 1995. These are all of the artists that are off of the Rhymesayers label. All of them are underground hip-hop and come out with a similar style and way of creating their music. Most if not all of them are in collaborations with eachother and they usually can flow very nicely with eachother. Some of my personal favorites off the label is Atmosphere, P.O.S., Eyedea, Blueprint, Brother Ali, Grieves, and Evidence.

A little background info...

Atmosphere is a group out of Minneapolis that consists of Slug doing the rhyming, Ant on the beats, and their DJ Mr, Dibbs. Due to years of touring and Slug’s personal lyrical style Atmosphere has become legends in the underground Hip Hop scene and beyond. They have the most wide variety of listeners which shows they make music for whoever is willing to listen. Slug showcases his unique ability to be able to put personal expieriences and meaning to his music. Along this journey Slug has also became one of the top lyricists and a very talented writer. His success has also reflected on the people around him, Ant has become a wizard at making beats usually making them complex, original, and usually catchy. Ant has produced beats on every single atmosphere song with the exception of a few on their album Lucy Ford. Today, Slug has been with the Rhymesayers label which is currently still growing, with everyone associated in it doing collaborations and it all has come together pretty well as much of the artists on the label have a somewhat similar style of the way the write their music.

The best of all

If I had to only listen to one group for the rest of my life, i could happily listen to a underground hip-hop group called atmosphere. Along with any of the members of the Rhymesayers label. But when it comes to specifically atmosphere, its different then anything else in my opinion. I can relate a part of my life to almost every single song and i really respect what they stand for and the fact that their vocalist, Slug who's real name is Sean Daley, writes and preforms his music for anyone that wants to listen, and i respect that a lot. Their most recent concert near the Cleveland area was at the House of Blues and they came with another rapper Prof and Evidence, Evidence is also a part of the Rhymesayers and Prof is with a neighboring record deal called Stophouse. Anyways, before the show Slug was waiting outside the show waiting to greet everyone, unfortunately i wasn't able to attend but i heard about it and i am still to this day so disappointed that i didn't get to make it to the concert. Also, slug isn't all about the money, he is so much more concerned with his music legacy and having fun and being real about what he does with his life and his music. Slug also has another member of Atmosphere who's stage name is Ant and he always comes up with really amazing and usually catchy or unique beats and that is a major key to making a good song.

Change of Heart

Have you ever really gotten into something and then eventually, when you open your eyes on the situation, or in this case the person, and you find out that it wasn't that great or that person wasn't who you thought they were. Well previously in my blogs i thought Wiz Khalifa wouldn't be one of the rappers to sell out. Just the same as everyone else, he sold himself out for the money. I don't blame him at all for the choices he made and i understand money is a very important thing, but i wish that these artists wouldn't change who they are after the fame and fortune. Personally, im not that big a fan of "rap" music. Although its not my favorite type of music and i rarely listen to it, I had always been a fan of Khalifa just because of his carefree, easy-going attitude towards things. I just think the person that he is today really reflects his money more than anything else. Also, I don't know the guy, not on a personal level anyway, and maybe his personality hasn't changed, but his music also reflects his money because he has changed almost completely from his old music. The Wiz Khalifa that I was a fan of was good because of his unique style and now that he has conformed to what people want, i just don't see him the same.

Who is at the top?

Nowadays there is a lot of debate over who is the top hip hop artist right now. Most people would argue that Marshall Mathers otherwise known as Eminem is still the best artist out there. A big number are lil wayne fans, and believe that he is at the top. Wiz Khalifa in my opinion is the best taking off right now, he has been the best artist and has passed up what anyone would consider a sucessful life. At the moment he hasn't been as active about releasing mixtape after mixtape, but on the other hand eminem hasn't came out with anything major since his Recovery album. The greatest thing he accomplished as far as popularity goes was Lighters that featured Royce da 5'9 from Slaughterhouse and Bruno Mars. That song was just a song that he wanted to make money on. That is not how eminem got famous and i really miss the way that eminem used to rap before he got famous and sold out. Lil Wayne is not the best either because just like Eminem Lil wayne completely changed the way he played his music after the riches. Wiz khalifa isnt overall better than Eminem, and to be honest its not even close. But as of right now, I think Wiz Khalifa has had success with his recent albums, not changing his music because of his fame. He definetly has changed since he became a star but he hasn't really changed what made him famous and thats why i like what Wiz has been doing. He is still touring everywhere he is currently on a tour that features his home town Pittsburgh, Germany, Amsterdam, Paris, and Berlin.

Wiz attended the BET awards on the 12th where he was nominated for 9 awards and won 2 awards one of which was the Rookie of the Year and Track of the Year which was Black and Yellow. Wiz Khalifa and his followers are going in the right direction and are starting to make history in the music industry.
